Some background – in September 2015, the parody sketch show Chestnuts was asked to remove the entire sketch called “Amos Yee The Musical” from its programme, in order to be granted the performing arts license by the Media Development Authority.
So, the troupe decided to make a mini-movie based on the sketch and also to get crowdfunding for the production.
The lovely and talented Eileen Chai is launching a crowdfunding campaign for her book & EP entitled Teach A Life, For Life at Pozible. Check out the video below for more details.
I was rather fortunate enough to be asked to play at The Pigeonhole’s launch early last year and was struck by the sincerity and passion of the owners to the arts/music scene in Singapore. Over the course of time, in my various capacities as music journo, band manager & S-ROCK fan, I’ve had many occasions to visit The Pigeonhole and have always felt at home there, almost as if this was a place put together by and for local arts/music scene lovers. Sadly, as is often the case in our inflationary times, The Pigeonhole is in danger of closing down unless its owners are able to raise funds to cover the rental costs and have set up a page at Indiegogo for that purpose. Please visit http://www.indiegogo.com/thepigeonhole, and kindly contribute to this worthy cause if you are so moved. Thank you!
Andrea Perry is an artist that Power of Pop has featured in the last decade for her delightful journeys into ‘twee’ pop of the terminal kind. Naively imaginative in the way Perry constructs melody and lyrics, it has always been a pleasure to review her works. In any case, Perry is seeking support at Kickstarter for her latest recording project. Therefore, please watch the video below and then give Andrea the money she needs to finish up her new album!
That’s the big question that industry insiders, fans and musicians have debated endlessly over the last several years. It’s also the title of a new documentary from musicians Adam Russell (Story of the Year, D.R.U.G.S.) and Ryan Phillips (Story of the Year, Greek Fire) who recently started a Kickstarter campaign to fund the creation of the film, which will explore the evolution of the music business over the last decade with interviews from musicians, producers, managers, record labels and more.
