POWER OF POP MUSIC ALBUM REVIEW: JUSTIN LEVINSON – YES MAN

ALBUM REVIEW: JUSTIN LEVINSON – YES MAN

JustinL

Background
Justin Levinson is a singer/songwriter from Burlington, Vermont. Renowned for a catalog of songs covering everything from power-pop to country to “feel good heartbreak”, Levinson has earned steady praise from audiences and critics alike since his 2005 debut.

Strengths
“The album is heavily influenced by the 60’s pop music he grew up.” – goes Levinson’s press release for Yes Man, and that’s a really good description. But if one wants to get more specific and detailed, perhaps a reference to the 90s Pop Underground would not be amiss. Jaunty rhythms, catchy melodies, luscious harmonies & old-fashioned pop hooks galore are the order of the day.

Highlights
“Yes Man”, “I’ll Move Closer”, “Broken Heart Running”, “Colleen Compassion”.

Sounds Like
The Beach Boys, The Beatles, Jellyfish, Ben Folds Five, Fountains of Wayne.

Bottom Line
Instantly hummable tunes that will infect your consciousness from the get go. For true blue pop fans and melody junkies!
