ALBUM REVIEW: WEEZER – S/T (WHITE ALBUM)

Weezer White

Background
Weezer is an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1992, currently consisting of Rivers Cuomo (lead vocals, lead guitar), Patrick Wilson (drums), Brian Bell (rhythm guitar, backing vocals, keyboards), and Scott Shriner (bass, backing vocals, keyboards). Weezer has sold 9.2 million albums in the US and over 17 million worldwide.

Strengths
Solid pop-rock songwriting that picks up from where well-received Everything Will Be Alright in the End left off. The songs sound fresh and immediate, even if they are also recognisably Weezer songs. Singalong choruses and head-banging guitar riffs will keep diehards and newbies equally entertained.

Highlights
“California Kids”, “Wind in our Sails”, “(Girl We Got A) Good Thing”, “King of the World”, “L.A. Girlz”.

Sounds Like
Weezer!

Bottom Line
As long as Weezer is able to deliver premiere powerpop/rock ’n’ roll, there’s no reason why they should ever stop doing what they are doing. Which at the moment, they are still doing very well. Highly Recommended!
