Background
Twin Peaks was formed by four young Chicago natives (vocalist/guitarist Cadien Lake James, guitarist Clay Frankel, bassist Jack Dolan, and drummer Connor Brodner) in the early 2010s. The band have so far earned a solid reputation for its garage punk sound.

Strengths
Down in Heaven finds Twin Peaks expanding their retro-rock agenda somewhat by channeling the classic pop-rock/rock ’n’ roll music of the seminal 60s/70s. The result is a smashingly successful tribute to the album’s references and influences – fans of that special era will find Down in Heaven eerily authentic.

Highlights
“Walk to the One You Love”, “Wanted You”, “My Boys”, “Butterfly”. Pretty much the entire LP.

Sounds Like
The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, The Beatles, Big Star.

Bottom Line
Yet another example of how vibrant new music can be made based on the inspirations of yesteryear. Not merely irrelevant but indispensable in order to rid contemporary rock music of its current decline.
