Tristen Tuckfield, a film executive with wide-ranging experience in acquisitions, production and finance, has joined UTA’s Independent Film Group as an agent. Her arrival strengthens the agency’s capacity to package, finance and sell indie feature and television projects at a moment when festival-driven deals and streamer interest are reshaping the marketplace.
Tuckfield joins UTA from Wonder Project, where she served as Chief Commercial Officer and led content acquisition for the company’s premium streaming offering on Amazon Prime Video. In that role she built a steady slate of originals and curated acquisitions, launched high-profile programming, and developed unscripted and children’s initiatives while negotiating partnerships across studios and independent producers.
Before Wonder Project, Tuckfield was EVP of Feature Films at Village Roadshow Pictures, overseeing strategy across a diverse slate of more than 40 titles and coordinating packaging and production for partners that included major streamers and studios. Earlier still, she was a founding executive at 30WEST, helping to establish its film investment, financing and sales operations; there she played a hands-on role packaging and placing high-profile documentary and feature projects at global platforms.
Her resume also includes senior acquisitions roles at Millennium Entertainment and Samuel Goldwyn Films, followed by a stint in CAA’s Media Finance Group — a background that spans creative development, distribution deals and deal structuring.
Why UTA hired her now
UTA’s Independent Film Group has posted a string of headline-making transactions this year, and Tuckfield’s appointment adds dedicated capacity for mid- and high-end independent work. Agency leadership said they expect her to accelerate cross-market placement and financing strategies while deepening relationships with studios, streamers and buyers.

- What she’ll focus on: packaging, financing and sales strategies for independent features and TV.
- What she brings: decades of experience across acquisitions, production, distribution and finance.
- Why it matters: stronger deal-making resources as festival sales and streamer acquisitions remain central to indie financing.
UTA’s recent activity and the fall slate
The division has been busy on the festival circuit: one Sundance title fetched more than $10 million in a competitive sale, and a Cannes acquisition reportedly topped $17 million. UTA’s recent credits include a mix of genre and prestige films as well as auteur-driven projects, and the group is carrying a varied lineup into the autumn festival run.
- Notable recent deals: The Invite (sale to A24, reported $10M+); Club Kid (reported $17M sale out of Cannes).
- Recent films worked by the group: Wicker; Hope; Tangles; Tuner; East of Wall; Longlegs.
- Selected titles heading into the fall: Prima Facie (starring Cynthia Erivo); My Notes on Mars (Mackenzie Davis, Rupert Friend); Girl Group (Rebel Wilson); Magazine (Lily McInerny, Jake Lacy); documentaries Musk (Alex Gibney) and Rapinoe (Rebeca Huntt).
Rena Ronson, partner and head of UTA’s Independent Film Group, described Tuckfield as a versatile operator with long-standing industry relationships and an ability to balance commercial potential with creative ambition — qualities the agency views as increasingly valuable in a competitive acquisition landscape.
For filmmakers and producers, Tuckfield’s move signals greater access to tailored deal structures and buyer networks at UTA. For the market, it highlights how agencies are investing in senior dealmakers to navigate an evolving mix of theatrical, streaming and festival-driven distribution strategies during a busy fall season.
