Netflix has expanded the ensemble for its live-action take on Scooby-Doo, adding 15 actors — several with recognizable credits — to the cast of Scooby-Doo: Origins. The announcement deepens the project’s talent pool and raises fresh questions about the show’s tone and scope ahead of any release date news.
All of the newly announced performers are listed without character assignments, but the names signal a mix of veteran character actors and younger faces from recent TV dramas and comedies.
- Rusty Schwimmer — known for character work in film and television (credits include The Pitt).
- Peter Macon — frequent TV guest and series regular (The Orville).
- Maxwell Simkins — recent indie and streaming projects.
- Jona Xiao — television credits including The Pitt.
- Dani Deetté — appeared on FBI: Most Wanted.
- Elysée Sanvillé — roles on procedurals such as 72 Hours.
- Alex Isles — emerging TV actor.
- Avery Kristen Pohl — noted for Never Have I Ever.
- Pamela Mitchell — known from period drama 1883.
- Ross Kimball — credits include Jury Duty.
- Sara Gilbert — longtime TV performer, recently The Conners.
- Wynn Everett — appeared on Chad Powers and other series.
- Sauriyan Sapkota — seen in The Fall of the House of Usher.
- Bruce McGill — veteran actor with a broad film and TV résumé (Lioness).
- Sherilyn Fenn — best known for Twin Peaks and other genre work.
Netflix has described the series as a contemporary reimagining of the classic mystery club. The story follows friends during their last summer at camp, when Shaggy and Daphne become entangled in a strange case involving a lost Great Dane puppy and a possible supernatural killing. They join forces with the skeptical local thinker, Velma, and a new, enigmatic young man, Fred, to uncover a mystery that threatens to reveal long-buried secrets.
Behind the camera, writers Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg are steering the series as showrunners and executive producers. The producer roster also includes Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Leigh London Redman from Berlanti Productions, André Nemec, Jeff Pinkner and Adrienne Erickson from Midnight Radio, and director Toby Haynes, who is attached to helm the premiere.
Netflix has not yet assigned character names to the new cast members, nor has it announced a release window. The size and pedigree of the supporting cast suggest the series will populate Coolsville with a range of adult and guest roles in addition to the central teens and their dog.
For fans tracking modern adaptations of legacy franchises, the new casting round is a notable step — it fills out the world around the core mystery team and gives a clearer sense of the creative team shaping the show. Expect official casting updates and production milestones from Netflix as the project moves forward.
