THE JEZABELS – PLEASURE DRIVE
From the new album, Synthia, the music is more synth-driven than previous releases but there’s still a sense of the rock ’n’ roll spirit that permeates throughout. The video is quite impressive too.
DIIV – UNDER THE SUN (AUDIO ONLY)
Listening to this new single, it’s a pity DIIV had to pull out from the recent Laneway Festival Singapore. This is the best indie rock that the lives up to the moniker. Clean, driving guitars lead the way and call the shots over a fairly typical beat. Infectious. New album Is the Is Are out now.
PINEGROVE – OLD FRIENDS (AUDIO ONLY)
Indie-alt-country-folk that contains a tinge of 90s slacker but its likeable nature should calm down any unnatural anxieties. “Old Friends” has one of those rambling vocals that does not depend too much on sophistication but it is friendly enough to press repeat. Cardinal is the new album, out now!
