CBS series canceled twice finds new life on Prime Video

All four seasons of the crime drama Unforgettable arrive on Prime Video on March 25 — a notable addition for viewers who missed the show during its turbulent broadcast life. The move reunites a series that survived multiple cancellations and network rescues, and makes it easy to binge the complete run for the first time on a single streamer.

The series, adapted from J. Robert Lennon’s 2008 short story “The Rememberer,” follows Detective Carrie Wells, played by Poppy Montgomery, a police investigator whose rare neurological condition gives her an exceptionally detailed, near-Photographic memory. That premise drove the procedural’s cases and serialized character moments, supported by a rotating ensemble that included Dylan Walsh, Michael Gaston, Kevin Rankin, Daya Vaidya, Jane Curtin, Dallas Roberts, James Hiroyuki Liao, Tawny Cypress, E.J. Bonilla, La La Anthony and Kathy Najimy.

From cancellations to comebacks

Unforgettable premiered on CBS in 2011 but did not have a straightforward run. After its initial season it was canceled, then reinstated for additional episodes and repositioned as a summer series for subsequent seasons. CBS ended the show again in 2014, only for A&E to pick it up in 2015 for another season—ultimately concluding the series at four seasons after a final cancellation.

The repeated reversals reflect how networks sometimes re-evaluate procedural dramas that demonstrate steady audience interest or offer reusable formats for syndication and summer scheduling.

  • Arrival on Prime Video: All four seasons available to stream beginning March 25.
  • Creator credits: Ed Redlich and John Bellucci; based on a short story by J. Robert Lennon.
  • Lead character: Detective Carrie Wells, notable for an almost eidetic memory.
  • Original run: Debuted in 2011 and completed four seasons after multiple network pickups and cancellations.
  • Previous availability: Episodes could be bought on platforms such as Apple TV and YouTube; full streaming will now be centralized on Prime.

Prime is also adding a slate of older network favorites the same day, expanding its catalog of classic comedies and dramas. Titles moving to the service include All in the Family, Good Times, Drop Dead Diva, The Shield, Married… with Children and Rules of Engagement among others, giving subscribers a mix of nostalgia and variety to binge alongside Unforgettable.

Why this matters now: consolidating all seasons on a major streamer removes the friction for viewers who want to watch a show end-to-end and gives a second life to series with complicated broadcast histories. For fans and newcomers alike, the March 25 arrival makes it simpler to revisit or discover a network procedural that repeatedly earned second chances.
