The Ann Arbor District Library will host A2CAF: Small + Indie Press on Saturday, Oct. 3, bringing Nate Powell, Katie Skelly and Noah Van Sciver to the Downtown Library for a free indie comics showcase running 11 a.m.–5 p.m., the library says.
The event, billed on the AADL website, features presentations, demonstrations, an artist vendor floor and scheduled talks: Powell presents “Making the Diana Triptych,” Skelly presents “Drawing Desire,” and Van Sciver offers “Drawing Inspiration from History.” MLive reports all three artists will also sign books during the day.
Powell is described by MLive as a National Book Award-winning cartoonist known for the March trilogy; his next graphic novel, Diana, is scheduled for release Oct. 6 from Abrams ComicArts, and his work has earned Eisner and Ignatz Awards as well as recognition from library groups.

Books for sale at the event will be supplied by Vault of Midnight, the announced retail partner, and dozens of other cartoonists and vendors will occupy the vendor floor inside the Downtown Library during the one-day festival.
The AADL events listings show timed signings and program-room presentations across the day, including a Nate Powell author signing at 4:15 p.m. and a Powell presentation at 3:00 p.m., plus a Katie Skelly signing and a Noah Van Sciver program earlier in the schedule.

The A2CAF Small + Indie Press program page notes the show runs 11 a.m.–5 p.m. at the Downtown Library, 343 S. Fifth Ave., and describes the event as a one-day venture into independent comics publishing produced in partnership with Athenaeum Comic Art.
Attendees can meet creators, watch live drawing demonstrations and buy small-press comics; MLive adds that Vault of Midnight will bring books for sale and that all three headliners will sign copies during the day.
This free AADL show continues a local tradition of small-press comics programming in Ann Arbor and fits into the wider fall comics calendar; readers who want broader convention coverage can find guides to regional comics events and conventions at the site, including a Lexington Comic Con guide and a Tampa Bay Comic Convention guide.
