ACME also runs an annual Free Comic Book Day each spring; KTIV reported the shop held its 26th Free Comic Book Day on May 1, 2026, with owner Kevin McGarry saying the event has become a community favorite and the store opened from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

During the spring event KTIV wrote that “the line wrapped around the building as people filled the store to get their hands on books” and that the store has run the Free Comic Book Day for 26 years, showing the local appetite for giveaways ACME stages.

What to expect at Trick-or-Read

Promotional posts for the store’s Halloween event say ACME will offer full-size and mini comics for all ages and host themed guests and costumed groups; past Trick-or-Read activities have included local costumed groups and family-friendly characters.
