Muse marked their return with an unusual publicity stunt: the band announced their new record by lofting a tablet more than 20 miles (about 32 km) above the Earth and using that airborne screen to debut the music video for their latest single. The project, carried out with specialist outfit Sent Into Space, ties the group’s long-standing space themes to a literal sky-high reveal.
The album, titled The Wow! Signal, is due June 26 on Warner and is Muse’s tenth studio release. The record spans ten tracks and includes the previously released song Unravelling; the new single Be With You received its video premiere while the device was aloft.
Muse chose the album’s name as a direct reference to a real astronomical anomaly from 1977. That year, a radio telescope recorded a 72‑second burst from the direction of Sagittarius that stood out for its strength and narrow bandwidth; the observer famously wrote the sequence 6EQUJ5 in the printout and noted “Wow!” beside it. The incident has since become a touchstone in popular discussions about unexplained cosmic signals.
The band’s announcement leaned into that history: a label statement framed the record around themes of cosmic uncertainty, human longing and the possibility of contact with something beyond our everyday experience.

For listeners and observers, the stunt underscores two things: first, Muse’s continued interest in marrying rock music with science‑fiction imagery; second, how bands are experimenting with experiential launches to cut through a crowded release schedule. The atmospheric premiere put the new video in an unusually literal context, and it will likely be a talking point as the band moves into the album’s wider rollout and tour plans.
Fans can expect the full record and accompanying campaign to unfold ahead of late‑June release, with the airborne reveal serving as the opening gesture for what the band frames as a concept rooted in space and human questions about contact and meaning.
