When CW’s Arrow debuted, it opted to follow the Christopher Nolan interpretation of the superhero. Functional costumes, real world scenarios and realistic heroes. Another leaf that was taken from the Nolan book was the parallel narratives that were set in different times and places.
But at its core, Arrow is a soap opera – the beautiful characters, the over-dramatized relationships and of course, the secrets. This latest episode had a multitude of story-lines running at the same time and it worked well. As expected, Laurel Lance took on the mantle of Canary permanently and Felicity assisted Ray Palmer to get one step closer to becoming the Atom.
All coming together nicely, it would seem. One wonders whether Warners will be as successful as CW in adapting the slew of DC superheroes to come. Fingers crossed!
