Chicago post‑rock veterans Tortoise are returning to North America this summer, mounting a string of shows that span the U.S. and Canada and give fans a rare chance to hear material from their first album in nearly a decade. The short run, which begins in late June and runs into August, pairs festival appearances with intimate club dates in major markets including New York, Boston and Los Angeles.
Where and when they’ll play
The tour opens in New York City and moves through the Northeast before heading west for a handful of California stops. Along the way the band appears at festival stages and established venues, offering different settings for their layered instrumentals.

New music and the lineup
After a global run earlier this year, Tortoise returned with Touch in 2025 — their first full-length in nine years. The record, assembled across sessions in Chicago, Los Angeles and Portland, yielded the singles “Layered Presence” and “Oganesson”, which have become fixtures in recent setlists.

The group on tour consists of Dan Bitney, John Herndon, Douglas McCombs, John McEntire and Jeff Parker — a lineup that has guided the band’s mix of rhythmic experimentation and textural grooves since the 1990s.
Why this tour matters
Tortoise helped define a strand of instrumental rock that prizes subtlety and studio craft; seeing them live offers a chance to hear how those studio choices translate onstage. The routing—festivals, theaters and smaller clubs—means different audiences will experience the material in very different acoustic contexts.
Jeff Parker‘s solo profile and recent critical attention to members’ side projects have also renewed interest in the band, making this summer’s dates a focal point for longtime listeners and newcomers curious about the post‑rock lineage.
Tickets are being handled through standard box‑office and ticketing channels; prospective attendees should check venue pages or official ticketing outlets for availability and accessibility information.
