Power Pop! Without a doubt, one of the most marginalized musical genres out there in the modern rock wasteland right now. But this was the very genre that Power of Pop was originally set up to cover back in the late 90s – hence our name! In this context, a compilation album becomes very relevant as a mechanism to introduce new listeners to the genre and that’s where The Big Stir International Traveling Roadshow Compilation comes in.
As the name implies, the album features contributions from the 10 key artists participating in the tour of the same name throughout the UK and Ireland in May and June of 2017. An excellent tour souvenir for folks lucky enough to catch the participating bands.
For us, the highlights come from PoP faves like Plasticsoul, Toxic Melons and of course, Huxley Rittman & The Rusty Hitmen. Mixed returns from most of the remaining acts – with constraints of recording costs probably the cause of the varying quality – though The Armoires and Sunshine Bloom deserve special mention for their musicality.
Now available at the official Armoires website shop.
