COME ON YOU SPURS!

SPURS 1 CHELSEA 1

I have to say that I was pretty much pissed off after this game. As usual, the ‘Special One’ had the last say – asking for Jan Vertonghen to get a retrospective three match ban – which was a pretty brilliant smokescreen. After all, nobody seems to be talking about how the Chavs should not have been given their equalizer to begin with.

As Mata floated the ball into the Spurs box, Ivanovic held and pushed Mousa Dembele into the box allowing Terry to ghost in onside and score easily. A clear foul – but somehow the issue is about Vertonghen? Ridiculous. And as the picture above shows, Torres should have been red carded much earlier for laying hands on Vertonghen. Typical Chavs misconduct.

That said, Spurs did fade badly in the second half after impressing in the first. The triangle of Christian Eriksen, Roberto Soldado and Gylfi Siggurdsson combined well to give Spurs a deserved lead but once again the failure to score more than one was costly. This was greatly exacerbated by Jermain Defoe’s poor miss towards the end of the game. The difference between winners and losers, in my opinion. Perhaps, we need to remember that this team is still finding its way somewhat and that getting anything away from the ‘Special One’ is no mean feat. I so wanted us to win this one… maybe we’re saving it for Stamford Bridge. Wouldn’t it be nice.

COYS!

  1. Yeah, Fernando Torres definitely deserved that ejection… he was playing pretty chippy with Vertonghen… Spurs really look like most complete team.

  2. True but am a little concerned about the failure to convert the numerous chances we are making. Very low goals for count so far.
