Robert Kelker-Kelly, the actor who played one of daytime television’s most recognizable heroes, has died at 62, the Missouri medical examiner confirmed. His passing — and the unresolved cause of death — has brought fresh attention to both his on-screen legacy and recent allegations tied to his time on the soap circuit.
The medical examiner reported Kelker-Kelly died on Saturday; officials have not released a cause. Authorities said the inquiry into the circumstances of his death is ongoing.

Kelker-Kelly launched his daytime career in the late 1980s and rose to prominence in the early 1990s. In 1992 he stepped into the role of Bo Brady on Days of Our Lives, a part originally associated with Peter Reckell. Kelker-Kelly’s portrayal ran for roughly three years and paired him opposite Kristian Alfonso’s Hope and Lisa Rinna’s Billie.
During that run he earned industry recognition, receiving a Soap Opera Digest award in 1994 for Outstanding Lead Actor. The following year he and Rinna were honored as a popular on-screen pairing.
Both Kelker-Kelly and Rinna left the series in 1995; Reckell later returned to the role of Bo. Kelker-Kelly later appeared on General Hospital as Stavros Cassadine and, away from sets, worked as a professional pilot.
In 2026 Kelker-Kelly’s name resurfaced in headlines after Lisa Rinna wrote about their working relationship in her memoir. Rinna described verbal mistreatment and manipulative behavior during their time on Days of Our Lives and wrote that NBC briefly provided security for her and Alfonso following Kelker-Kelly’s abrupt exit. Kelker-Kelly did not issue a public response to those claims.

Colleagues paid tribute on social channels. General Hospital alumni Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson posted an image and brief messages on their Stone Cold and the Jackal pages honoring Kelker-Kelly after the news of his death.

For viewers and industry peers, his death closes a chapter on a familiar soap-era face while reopening questions tied to workplace conduct and how the industry documents and remembers its past. The unresolved cause of death leaves immediate practical questions for investigators and fans alike.
The Missouri medical examiner’s office has said it will release further details when they are available. For now, Kelker-Kelly’s career — its accolades, later departures and the disputes that followed — remains part of his public record.
