Muncie hosts free concert from acclaimed Canadian blues duo Blue Moon Marquee

Blue Moon Marquee, an award-winning Canadian blues duo, will bring their acclaimed sound to Muncie on Saturday, September 5, performing a free outdoor concert at Canan Commons in downtown Muncie at 7 p.m. The concert is part of the Muncie Three Trails Music Series, a free, all-ages event that welcomes local food and drink vendors.

The British Columbia-based duo consists of vocalist and guitarist A.W. Cardinal and vocalist, bassist, and drummer Jasmine Colette. Their music blends blues, swing, jazz, and folk influences with original compositions that draw from anything that “swings, jumps or grooves,” according to their biography.

Blue Moon Marquee has earned significant recognition in recent years. They won the 2024 JUNO Award for Blues Album of the Year for their album “Scream, Holler & Howl,” and they are nominated for the 2025 JUNO Award for Blues Album of the Year for their latest album, “New Orleans Sessions.” The duo is the first artist in over 20 years to receive a JUNO nomination for Blues Album of the Year in consecutive years, marking an exceptional achievement in Canadian music.

The Muncie Three Trails Music Series, which presents the concert, is a non-profit partnership between the Muncie Downtown Development Partnership, MuncieArts, and series founder Rick Zeigler. The series aims to bring critically acclaimed national recording artists to perform at Canan Commons, Muncie’s urban park in the heart of downtown. All concerts in the series are free and open to all ages, with open seating and lawn chairs welcome.

Local trio Prairie Creek Sirens will open the show, giving Muncie music fans a chance to enjoy both regional and nationally recognized talent in one evening. The concert runs from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., with organizers encouraging attendees to arrive early for food and drink options from local vendors.
