NBC has greenlit a first-of-its-kind edition of its singing competition: The Voice: Celebrity will debut in 2027, bringing well-known performers and public figures into the franchise’s red chairs. The move retools the show’s familiar format with new backstage access and a refreshed on-air lineup, a notable development for a long-running reality brand.
New faces on the chairs — and behind the mic
For this celebrity-themed run NBC has recruited a mixed roster of music and entertainment figures to guide contestants. Pop star Joe Jonas, who previously sat on the coaching panel for The Voice: Australia, will take one of the coach positions. He joins multi-hyphenate entertainer Queen Latifah and country artist Riley Green, both of whom are also listed as coaches for Season 30 of the regular series.
Hosting duties will shift as well: longtime frontman Carson Daly moves off camera and retains a role as a producer, while Keke Palmer — known for frequent television hosting work — will lead the celebrity edition on screen.
How the format changes for famous contestants
Rather than scouting unknown talent, this iteration will spotlight actors, musicians, influencers, athletes, comedians and reality TV figures competing for the title of the franchise’s first celebrity champion. NBC says more details about the participating celebrities will be announced later.
The season will introduce several new segments designed to give viewers a closer look at preparation and peer reactions. Among the additions are the Voice Boot Camp, which follows celebrities as they rehearse ahead of their Blind Auditions; the VIP Room, where contestants watch one another’s performances; and a Workroom focused on how celebrities prepare for the Battles.
These elements aim to expand the show’s behind-the-scenes storytelling, adding context about performers’ rehearsals and strategy that the standard competition typically reserves for emerging artists.
