The changes — which move several deluxe editions and a one-shot crossover by two weeks to several months later — will alter shipping and retail calendars as stores and collectors head into the holiday season.
The most visible change affects DC x Sonic the Hedgehog: Metal Legion #5 (of 5). The issue, written by Ian Flynn with art by Pablo M. Collar, was originally scheduled for early September but is now set to arrive on shelves on September 16, 2026. The finale pits the Legion of Doom — led by Lex Luthor — against Sonic’s world, with Aquaman and other heroes crossing realities to stop a collapsing power that threatens both universes. The single issue is priced at $3.99.
DC has not published a detailed account explaining the timing adjustments. For readers and retailers, the changes mean updated pull lists, adjusted preorder windows and, in some cases, longer waits for deluxe or anniversary editions.

Most of the affected items are hardcover prestige releases and anniversary anthologies aimed at collectors and libraries, rather than monthly single-issue titles. That means the ripple effects are likely to be felt in preorder fulfillment, bookstore stocking plans and the cadence of promotional campaigns timed to those releases.
Retailers typically adjust order quantities and display plans when key collector editions shift. For readers who follow anniversary editions or who planned gifts around specific dates, the revised schedule will require updated expectations — especially for titles now landing deep into November and December.
The staggered rescheduling also compresses several major releases into late September and December, weeks that are already busy for the comics and book market. How distributors and shops handle the concentrated arrival of multiple high-margin editions will determine whether customers face stock shortages or longer delivery times.
