Your Honor Season 2 Ep 2 is the second chapter of the second season of a legal drama television series that follows the story of a respected New Orleans judge, Michael Desiato, whose son is involved in a hit-and-run accident that leads to a high-stakes game of lies, deceit, and corruption. The show explores themes of morality, family, and the legal system, and stars Bryan Cranston in the lead role. Originally intended as a mini-series, a second season was inexplicably ordered by Showtime.
S P O I L E R S
Your Honor Season 2 Ep 2 rambles on aimlessly in the same way this season opener did. It’s cogent to repeat the fact that there is absolutely no point to continue the series after the way the story ended in – what is now – Season 1. Desiato’s motivation was crystal clear before – save his son Adam from the consequences behind his accidental killing of Rocco Baxter. To that end, Desianto compromised his ‘honor’ – hence the ironic title – in order to achieve that end. The series was possessed of a strong narrative drive precisely because of that.
But what is Desiato’s dramatic need now? To save his best friend Charlie – the corrupted mayor – from prison? To bring down the Baxter crime family? To absolve himself of all the crimes he has committed? None of these seem to be realistic goals for Desiato. In fact, what has Desiato to live for? His wife and son are both dead. Perhaps that is why in this chapter, Desiato is introduced to his grandson, the offspring of Fia and Adam. Would his grandson provide Desiato a reason to live – and to do what? Act on behalf of the district attorney to hurt his grandson’s other grandparents? Makes no sense whatsoever.
In the final analysis, Your Honor Season 2 Ep 2 is a shambling mess and impossible to engage with.
