YOUR HONOR PART 9 (REVIEW)

Your Honor Part 9

Your Honor Part 9 is the penultimate instalment of a ten-part drama miniseries set in New Orleans. The series is adapted from the Israeli TV series Kvodo. The premise of Your Honor concerns Michael Desiato (Bryan Cranston), a judge who has to take drastic action in order to safeguard his son Adam, after the latter kills the scion of a mob boss in a hit-and-run accident.

It’s fair to say that Your Honor as a series has not quite lived up to its potential. Part 9 introduces supposed intriguing details at a very late stage, for example, concerning the marital infidelity of the Judge’s wife Robin but what significance that carries for the main plot is unclear.

While the Judge is seemingly handling the obstacles he faces in dealing with mob boss Jimmy Baxter’s concerns over his son Carlo’s murder trial, the Judge’s own son Adam – the cause of all the problems to begin with – continues to make more trouble for himself and his hapless father.

How much you able to enjoy Your Honor by Part 9 really depends on a few elements. One, whether the convoluted (and far fetched) storylines have kept you engaged or disinterested and two, whether the utter lack of likability of Adam will drive you into simply not caring about Adam’s ultimate fate.

It’s fair to say that the increasing ridiculous nature of the plots and the character actions has had its toll on the suspension of disbelief as far as Your Honor is concerned. Question is – will the series finale be able to tie up all the loose ends and still give us viewers a reasonably satisfying ending? We have our doubts. As mentioned in our review of Part 8, Your Honor seems to have written itself into a cul-de-sac. We shall have to see.
