Yellowjackets Season 2 Ep 8 is the 18th chapter of a survival horror drama television series created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson. The series cross-hatches several genres successfully by combining influences from popular TV series like Lost, True Detective and every teenage coming-of-age drama out there.
The premise of Yellowjackets is as follows – 25 years ago, a high school girls soccer team were stranded for 18 months in the Canadian wilderness after a plane crash. The trauma of that experience lives on with them to the present day as the darkness becomes part of their everyday lives. Thus, the narrative of the series is divided between these two eras.

Entitled “It Chooses”, Yellowjackets Season 2 Ep 8 is the penultimate episode of this second season and the inevitable conclusion to the insanity pervading the lives of the Yellowjackets, both past and present. Even as the flashbacks reveal how the Yellowjackets began the ritual human sacrifice to the wilderness, Lottie believes that the Yellowjackets need to continue sating the hunger of the wilderness in the present.
Yellowjackets Season 2 Ep 8 shows us the damage that the wilderness cannibalism has caused to the psyche of these women and human sacrifice must continue to be effected as exchange for their survival of their ordeal. That is the deep dark secret that the women hold over each other – the cannibalism – and that history means that there is no escape for them, they can never free of the hold that the wilderness has over them.
Even Jeff appears to be tainted as his nightmares echo the darkness that lies within the women. Will the Yellowjackets be able to overcome the troubling choice that comes before them? Is there any way to defeat the darkness that is the wilderness? What will the season finale bring us, into order to transition us into the final season? A riveting exercise! Recommended!!
