YELLOWJACKETS SEASON 2 EP 3: STOPGAP

Yellowjackets Season 2 Ep 3

Yellowjackets Season 2 Ep 3 is the 13th chapter of a survival horror drama television series created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson. The series cross-hatches several genres successfully by combining influences from popular TV series like Lost, True Detective and every teenage coming-of-age drama out there.

The premise of Yellowjackets is as follows – 25 years ago, a high school girls soccer team were stranded for 18 months in the Canadian wilderness after a plane crash. The trauma of that experience lives on with them to the present day as the darkness becomes part of their everyday lives. Thus, the narrative of the series is divided between these two eras.

Entitled “Digestif”, Yellowjackets Season 2 Ep 3 is a bit of a pause after the shocking cannibalistic ending of episode 2. Thus, the pacing is slowed down and nothing much seems to happen. But essentially, this chapter is time spent on character development. When you consider how many characters are featured in this series, this type of episode is necessary.

As Yellowjackets Season 2 Ep 3 slowly reveals the worsening of the situation that the characters encountered in the past, lost in the wilderness, the reality of their personalities in the present begin to make a little more sense. Taissa’s hallucinations and sleepwalking began in the past and are now a present danger to everyone around her. For Shauna, the wildness of her time in the woods continue to inform her behaviour, as witnessed by her recovery of her stolen minivan. In terms of Nat, Misty and Lottie, this sub-plot seems to be circling in on itself and going nowhere.

Certainly, this chapter provided a needed stopgap, a breather so to speak and hopefully things will pick again next time round.
