Yellowjackets Season 2 Ep 1 is the 11th chapter of a survival horror drama television series created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson. The series cross-hatches several genres successfully by combining influences from popular TV series like Lost, True Detective and every teenage coming-of-age drama out there.
The premise of Yellowjackets is as follows – 25 years ago, a high school girls soccer team were stranded for 18 months in the Canadian wilderness after a plane crash. The trauma of that experience lives on with them to the present day as the darkness becomes part of their everyday lives. Thus, the narrative of the series is divided between these two eras.

Entitled “Friends, Romans, Countrymen”, Yellowjackets Season 2 Ep 1 picks up from where Season 1 left off by introducing to us the present day Lottie viz. the schizophrenic teenage witch all grown up. Not surprising perhaps, Lottie is now a cult leader, whose followers kidnapped Nat at the end of the Season 1 finale.
Shauna and Jeff are dealing with the whole blackmail fiasco – which occupied much of the Season 1 narrative – and ended up with the murder of Adam Martin. The couple do their level best to cover up the murder and re-connect but as far as the former is concerned, their daughter’s curiosity might be their undoing, in this respect.
Taissa finally discovers that her sleep-walking has led to terrible consequences and may cost her, her marriage and her political career. Misty is figuring out what happened to Nat, while serving as the psychotic glue that keeps the women functioning together. Nat, of course, escapes her incarceration and confronts Lottie, invoking the name of Travis (deceased) as well.
In the flashbacks, we find Shauna dealing with Jackie’s death, while Travis and Nat continue to search for the missing Javi. Van and Taissa get closer and Lottie’s influence over the group increases. A connection begins to build between Travis and Lottie, much to the chagrin of Nat. We haven’t really got to the cannibalism yet but we can sense it coming in our bones!
Yellowjackets Season 2 Ep 1 demonstrates that everything we loved about Season 1 is still intact (viz. intriguing plots and engaging characters) and we are looking forward to more top-notch weird drama. Highly recommended!
