Y The Last Man S01E10 Review

Y The Last Man S01E10 is the finale of the first season of the dystopian post-apocalyptic FX TV drama series streaming on Disney+ based on the DC Comics series created by Brian K Vaughn and Pia Guerra. The premise of Y The Last Man postulates a dystopian future where all men are wiped out save for one.

Entitled “Victoria”, Y The Last Man S01E10 ironically does a whole lot to redeem most of what has gone on in the first season before. Ironically, because the series was cancelled after the airing of episode 7! And if you have read our previous episode reviews, you would note that we found this cancellation utterly logical and deserved.

Y THE LAST MAN S01E10 (REVIEW)

All along this flawed first season, it was a difficult task to engage with the various characters as all of them were pretty much unlikable and some even downright pointless (e.g. Roxanne). Thus, it was ironic (that word again) that in the final episode several characters rose about the previous two-dimensional representations and became people viewers could give a damn about!

Y THE LAST MAN S01E10 (REVIEW)

Most notably, we were given a glimpse of the titular character Yorick acting like an actual human being and not an entitled prick with his head in the clouds. In addition, allowing a connection between Agent 355 and Dr Mann did wonders for their characters. And to be honest, Hero’s development at this stage is much superior to the source material. But most of all, Nora – who is revealed to be the Victoria of the original comics (she changed her name) – rises up to also become a better character than the one found in the source material.

Y THE LAST MAN S01E10 (REVIEW)

Thus, in the end, as demonstrated in Y The Last Man S01E10, the series possesses enough possibilities to be given a second chance, hopefully at one of the numerous streaming platforms that are out there right now.
