Y The Last Man S01E05

Y The Last Man S01E05 is the fifth episode of the first season of the dystopian post-apocalyptic FX TV drama series streaming on Disney+ based on the DC Comics series created by Brian K Vaughn and Pia Guerra. The premise of Y The Last Man postulates a dystopian future where all men are wiped out save for one.

Entitled “Mann Hunt”, Y The Last Man S01E05 follows the quest of Yorick and Agent 355 in search of the scientist Dr. Allison Mann (Diana Bang) in Havard. While we totally understand the need to make the task of finding Dr. Mann difficult, the plot development to have to the trio move to the other coast of the USA seems unnecessary prolongation of this particular story point.

Y The Last Man S01E05

The other story line being dragged out is in Washington D.C., where President Brown has to deal with the political machinations of the former First Daughter Kimberly Campbell Cunningham (Amber Tamblyn) and the re-appearance of former Vice-President Regina Oliver (Jennifer Wigmore) to complicate matters. By the end of the episode nothing really happens in this respect and the story seems to be plodding along at snail’s pace.

As is clearly evident, the pacing leaves a lot to be desired in this series and Y The Last Man S01E05 compounds this further with Agent 355 encountering a fellow agent (525) in the mysterious Culper Ring – an encounter that we do not quite see the resolution of, which is somewhat leaves the audience hanging. Does the Culper Ring have something do with the apocalyptic event? We shall find out, presumably.

Y The Last Man S01E05

Y The Last Man S01E05 raises more questions than is necessary and it makes hard work of connecting with the characters for the audience. Hopefully, things get clearer soon!
