WandaVision Episode 4 is the latest instalment of the Disney+ superhero streaming TV drama. After spending three episodes in a bizarre alternate reality where Wanda and Vision were living in TV sitcoms based in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, we finally get to see what is happening in the ‘real’ world i.e. the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
Thus, initially we get some excitement from getting re-acquainted with the Marvel Cinematic Universe – it has been some time now – though it wears off not too long into this episode. We are properly introduced to Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) – who was a little girl in the Captain Marvel movie (set in the 1990s) – now a S.W.O.R.D. agent, and we get to see what Rambeau experienced post-Blip (Thanos’ snap from Avengers : Endgame).

Rambeau is assigned to the strange phenomenon of Westview, where she runs into FBI agent Jimmy Woo (Randall Park) – from Ant-Man – and disappears into Westview. You see, Westview is the TV town that Wanda and Vision have been residing in the first three episodes. Then, an entire government task force is encamped at Westview and Darcy Lewis (Kat Denning, from the 1st two Thor movies) – now a doctor – joins in the action.
Okay, so we get it, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is interconnected. Then the episode effectively replays the first three episodes to explain all the moments where the ‘real world’ encroached on Wanda’s pocket reality but this time from the perspective of agent Woo and Dr. Lewis.
So, nothing really happens. The plot has not quite advanced, we just get a little more background than we did before. Now, that’s about two hours of story that we really understood from a cursory viewing of the two-minute trailer. Ho hum.
WandaVision Episode 4 is yet another letdown. So far, the series has been extremely boring. Will things pick up in Episode 5? Hopefully.
… still there’s more …
