Tokyo Vice Episode 8 could very well be called – “everything goes wrong” – as our key characters fall on the wrong side of the fates, so to speak, while the villain of the piece – Tozawa appears to have triumphed, having overcome his main obstacles. All our protagonists have a tough go as it does seem that whatever they have been working hard to achieve fails at this crucial juncture!

Adelstein is roughed up by Tozawa’s goons after having been seen with Tozawa’s mistress and this threatens his resolve to remain in Japan until he receives a video cassette revealing the fate of Samantha’s hostess friend Polina’s fate. Samantha herself is robbed of all her savings by Polina’s ex-boyfriend and this mishap leads her to making a loan deal with Ishida.
Of course, Sato is dead against this but it’s out of his hands. The young Japanese gangster finds himself spiralling as well and is ultimately left bleeding on the streets by a rival gang attack. And what about our intrepid detective Katagiri? Well, Tozawa threatens to kill his family if he continues his investigations. The episodes ends with Adelstein bringing the aforementioned video cassette to Katagiri.
Whew! Despite all that happens in Tokyo Vice Episode 8 – which to be fair, is quite a lot – the season finale has so many cliff-hangers that it would be intolerable if Tokyo Vice does not return for a season 2. Recommended!
