The Wheel of Time Season 2 Ep 7 is the seventh chapter (and penultimate episode) of the second season of an American high fantasy television series developed by Rafe Judkins for Amazon Prime Video. The series is based on the novel series of the same name by Robert Jordan with Brandon Sanderson. Similar to Foundation over at AppleTV+, we were of the view that the adaptation of these genre fiction classics fell well short of the source material, but despite that like Foundation, this series had been renewed for a second and now, a third season!
S P O I L E R S
Premise
Entitled “Daes Dae’Mar”, The Wheel of Time Season 2 Ep 7 brings all the various plot lines set up to a head as Siuan Sanche takes it upon herself to prevent Moiraine and Rand from leaving for Falme to rescue his friends from the Seanchan and announce himself as the Dragon Reborn.
Good
Like most of this season, this entry might be a little overwhelming with all the different characters, locations, powers etc but at least the narrative is moving along briskly and the characters begin to reveal themselves more and take sides in the upcoming Last Battle. There are revelations (and twists) galore relating to Moiraine’s lack of powers, the nature of Rand’s alliance with Lanfear, the true nature of Mat (yet another Forsaken?) and most of all, Moiraine’s innocent looking nephew is a Darkfriend!
Bad
Notwithstanding the more engaging plots and characterisations, the fact is that it can be a real challenge to keep up with this season. For example, what is the endgame for Lanfear, where do her loyalties lie? Also, Mat has been a frustrating character – who or what is he??
Conclusion
In the final analysis, The Wheel of Time Season 2 Ep 7 is a potent set-up for the season finale to come. Like Foundation, this series has certainly come into its own. Recommended.
