The Wheel of Time Season 2 Ep 5 is the fifth chapter of the second season of an American high fantasy television series developed by Rafe Judkins for Amazon Prime Video. The series is based on the novel series of the same name by Robert Jordan with Brandon Sanderson. Similar to Foundation over at AppleTV+, we were of the view that the adaptation of these genre fiction classics fell well short of the source material, but despite that like Foundation, this series had been renewed for a second and now, a third season!

Entitled “Damane”, The Wheel of Time Season 2 Ep 5 continues the quickening pace of recent chapters, with the introduction of numerous new characters that require attention from the viewer. Slacking off on our part will only lead to confusion! The Seanchan have been prominent this season but a bit more information is provided here. Lady Suroth (of the Seanchan) is also a member of the Forsaken, and a formidable adversary to the forces on the side of the Light. The chapter title highlights the fact that the Seanchan make slaves of light channellers in the most disturbing manner.
The Wheel of Time Season 2 Ep 5 also reveals conclusively that Liandrin has betrayed the Aes Sedai, presumably in exchange for the healing of her ailing son. She delivers Nynaeve and Edwene – together with Elayne – to Lady Suroth. Nynaeve and Elayne escape but Edwene is less fortunate and is made a Damane under Seanchan domination. Elsewhere, Moiranne and Rand are on the run from Lanfear, and by the end embark on a risky plan to escape. We also meet Aviendha – who teams up with Perrin – presumably her role will become more significant in the coming episodes.
Densely plotted now, The Wheel of Time is getting more intriguing. Took long enough!
