The Wheel of Time S01E06 is the sixth episode of the first season of an American epic fantasy television drama series streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The series is based on Robert Jordan’s novel series of the same name and is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon Studios. The series has already been renewed for a second season!
Entitled “The Flame of Tar Valon”, The Wheel of Time S01E06 gets to the root of the series thus far and introduces a new quest for Moiraine and the new ‘fellowship’. The episode finally introduces the Amrylin Seat – the leader of the Aes Sedai (essential an organisation of sorceresses, for want of a better term) – and reveals her secret connection with Moiraine. The episode also takes time to develop the political intrigue amongst the divided groups of the Ages Sedai (expressed by their different colours – Moiriane herself is a Blue).
The Wheel of Time S01E06 provided greater insight into the character of Moiraine – she is the Frodo figure of The Wheel of Time – burdened with the responsibility of protecting the world from the machinations of the Dark One (think: Sauron). Despite earlier misgivings, Rosamund Pike has managed to imbue Moiraine with the requisite heaviness of heart to function as the main character and thus drive the narrative forward.
That all said, the characterisations of Rand, Mat, Perrin, Egwene as well as Nynaeve remain lacklustre and unremarkable. At this point of time, they might as well be inter-changable. Even more than halfway through the series, not enough development has been in this respect – maybe there are just too many characters to do this development any justice whatsoever.

The ending of The Wheel of Time S01E06 promises much for the final four episodes of Season 1 – will it be enough for the series to lack its ending, at least in the season finale? Hope so!
