The Old Man Episode 6 finds Chase in a dilemma as his overtures to Pavlovich – a former Russian operative – whom he figured owed him a favour from the old days – instead get repaid with betrayal. Chase (with Zoe in tow) manage to get away from Pavlovich and his henchman only to be confronted by Harper, with bad news and an offer to work together.

The Old Man Episode 6 reveals that Morgan Bote has kidnapped Emily, with a view obviously to hand her over to Faraz Hamzad, the Chase nemesis. Despite the risk to his own reputation, Harper has to work with Chase to rescue Emily. Which seems a counter-intuitive path for Harper to follow but signifies that he has more integrity than Bote estimated and also that despite Emily’s deception, Harper refuses to abandon her in her time of need.
An excellent twist certainly as Emily will obviously be a key factor in this ongoing war between Chase and Hamzad. Par for the course, as the writing and performances on The Old Man have been top notch. The flashbacks are serviceable though and only provide background as and when needed.
Even in his senior years, Chase is still able to maintain his reputation as a “monster” during the Russian invasion of Afghanistan, 30 years ago. Zoe does not get to do too much but presumably the lessons she received from Chase – earlier in the episode – will come in handy soon enough. A taut action thriller that continues to excite. Highly recommended.
