The Offer Episodes 1 – 3 provide an insight into the behind the scenes machinations that led to the film. It will probably not surprise anyone to learn that the film faced many obstacles and many were opposed to its very existence. From the Italian-American mafiosos who were disturbed about the gangster life being portrayed to the studio executives who resisted the film on commercial grounds, it took the belief of producer Ruddy to get the project off the ground.

The ensemble cast is put to good use in The Offer Episodes 1 – 3, as we are introduced to the likes of Robert Evans (Matthew Goode) – head of Paramount Pictures, Charles Bluhdorn (Burn Gorman) – CEO of Paramount’s parent company, Bettye McCartt (Juno Temple) – Ruddy’s faithful secretary, Joe Columbo (Giovanni Ribisi) – New York mob boss, Mario Puzo (Patrick Gallo) – Godfather novelist and Coppola (Dan Fogler) himself.
But the main character is of course Ruddy and Teller does an excellent job in imbuing him with a manic intensity – his obsession with film drives him to make the best out of the Godfather project. No doubt that Ruddy is the protagonist of this tale as without him, according to this miniseries, there simply would not have been any Godfather film. Hard to imagine that something seemingly mundane like the making of the Godfather could be the premise of a 10 part miniseries! But based on The Offer Episodes 1 – 3, there is certainly enough drama, tension and conflict to sustain the interest of any film lover.
