The Offer Episode 10 is the finale of a biographical drama miniseries about the development and production of Francis Ford Coppola’s landmark New York City gangster film The Godfather (1972) for Paramount Pictures. The miniseries is part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the classic film and is based on the experiences of producer Al Ruddy, played by Miles Teller.

Entitled “Brains and Balls”, The Offer Episode 10 sets out the aftermath of The Godfather’s release with its ultimate commercial success & critical acclaim. While the finale is largely anti-climatic, it is at least emotionally satisfying for the audience to witness the vindication of the main characters for their passion, belief and hard work.

Unlike the previous nine instalments, The Offer Episode 10 has no real problem that Al Ruddy needs to solve, except perhaps a personal one, with regards to his future. As for the film itself, the only dilemma is the launch itself – how to effectively market the film. Barry Lapidus – characterised as a villain previously – is the one who comes up the idea of block booking cinemas for the film’s release, which proves to be a successful ploy.
As for Ruddy, he decides to relinquish production duties on the Godfather sequel – which will even be more successful than the original movie – in order to produce The Longest Yard, with Burt Reynolds starring. The Godfather was the launchpad indeed for Ruddy’s career. As previously mentioned, there is not much ballast in this finale to truly keep any tension going but that’s fine because the audience would enjoy the triumph of these characters, whom they have seen going through trial and tribulations to get this special film made.
In the final analysis, The Offer Episode 10 reveals that – like in real life – creativity never stops and while the characters are able to savour their success, they are already moving on to the next project. A loving tribute to film and film producers. Recommended!
