S P O I L E R S

Premise
Entitled “DNF”, The Morning Show Season 3 Ep 8 finds Alex and Chip disagreeing on how to manage rumours about her private life. Bradley begins an investigation that could upend the entire deal. “DNF” is an abbreviation for “did not finish”: an occasion when a runner, rider, driver, etc. who is competing in a race does not manage to finish the race.

Good
An engaging story by definition requires tension, conflict and uncertainty, with circumstances that affect characters, between characters in relationships and within the characters’ inner makeup. In that respect, this entry contains these three elements in spades! Apart from what is stated in the above-mentioned premise, Lauren’s digging into Bradley’s leaked emails (etc), Cory and Stella trying to outsmart Paul Marks in the acquisition deal, Marks’ plans to strip-mine UBA’s assets to focus only on news (with Alex in charge), Christina’s safety being threatened by pro-lifers for her social media outburst etc all feature. Lots of moving parts in this web of drama – a veritable soap opera!

Bad
Perhaps there’s actually TOO MUCH going on. Either it becomes difficult for the audience to keep track of all the plot threads or there’s insufficient time to give all the sub-plots the attention needed in order to do justice to the narrative ideas. No risk no gain presumably.

Conclusion
The Morning Show Season 3 Ep 8 is another strong chapter in a engaging season 3! Recommended!
