The Morning Show Season 3 Ep 5 is the fifth entry of the third season of an American drama television series starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon. The show examines the characters and culture behind a network broadcast morning news program. Hot topics covered in the early seasons included the #metoo movement and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Premise
Entitled “Love Island”, The Morning Show Season 3 Ep 5 details love connections that emerge, while the world is in lockdown. Yes, essentially, this is a flashback episode!

Bad
Remember how we ranted when The Changeling did this recently (i.e. go back in time)? Why do writers constantly do this, when it removes all tension from the story? Was it necessary to provide all that exposition to where the series ended up in the last entry? So… we were ‘treated’ to Bradley and Laura’s tryst, Cory purchasing his lavish new house (and meeting Paul Marks), Mia’s relationship with Andre. So what? None of that was necessary – also we found out what Cory had done for Bradley that left her beholden to him. Perhaps we could have had that last one but not the rest. Pointless exercise.

Good
What’s left to say about this entry then? Good to see Stella in her previous cool hairstyle before the pixie cut? Bradley covering the January 6th insurrection in DC? Seriously folks, it’s slim pickings. Sigh.

Conclusion
The Morning Show Season 3 Ep 4 was disappointing, a pause that put a halt to the tremendous narrative momentum that this season had been building up. Again, if they needed to do this, better to do it in bits and pieces across the episodes thus far instead. Talk about self-sabotage! Ugh.
