Ladies and gentlemen, hold onto your jetpacks and charge up your blasters, because The Mandalorian Season 3 Ep 5 has dropped and the popular series continues for another thrilling season! After two wildly successful seasons, the show that introduced us to the adorable and mysterious Baby Yoda (yes, we know it’s technically called Grogu now) is returning for more adventures in a galaxy far, far away.
S P O I L E R S
Entitled “The Pirate”, The Mandalorian Season 3 Ep 5 does, in its runtime, achieve what the previous 4 chapters failed to do i.e. establish the Season 3 quest. Which is, Bo-Katan’s commissioning as the Mandalorian leader to reunite all the lost clans and reclaim Mandalore. (Don’t ask us about the Dark Saber, seems irrelevant, for the moment) But wait again, what about Din then? Isn’t he the main character? Apparently, Din will ride shotgun in this particular quest for the remainder of the season – which has only three more episodes! Go figure.
Remember the pirates from the earlier chapters? Well, The Mandalorian Season 3 Ep 5 brings them back into play as they attack and conquer Nevarro, which has Greef Karga seeking aid from the New Republic – and not receiving any, cuz the New Republic is a useless bureaucracy. Thankfully, ranger Captain Teva exercises initiative to enlist the assistance of the Mandalorians to take out the pirates. Which they do, of course, without much of a fuss.
Now there are cool fight sequences in The Mandalorian Season 3 Ep 5, this is what diehard Star Wars nerds have always thirsted for since the first time they ever heard of the Mandalorians, so that’s already a big plus for this chapter. Add to that the ceding of land to the Children of the Watch, and the Armourer declaring Bo-Katan’s leadership – she even gets to take off her helmet (!): “she walks both worlds” it seems – presents us with a solid platform for the remainder of season 3. We’ll take that, for now! Recommended.
