Ladies and gentlemen, hold onto your jetpacks and charge up your blasters, because The Mandalorian Season 3 Ep 3 has dropped and the popular series continues for another thrilling season! After two wildly successful seasons, the show that introduced us to the adorable and mysterious Baby Yoda (yes, we know it’s technically called Grogu now) is returning for more adventures in a galaxy far, far away.

Entitled “The Convert”, The Mandalorian Season 3 Ep 3 is a confusing instalment as Din and Grogu barely appear in it! Sure, together with Bo-Katan, the duo engage in dog fights with Imperial tie-fighters and reunite with the Watch but most of this episode takes place on Coruscant!
In fact, The Mandalorian Season 3 Ep 3 comes across like an episode of a different series, to wit, “Tales of the New Republic” as we are re-introduced to Dr Penn Pershing – the cloning scientist – which we first saw in Season 1. Elia Kane – last seen as part of Moff Gideon’s crew at the end of Season 2 also appears. Both of them have been part of a programme reintegrating former Imperial operatives into the New Republic – the Amnesty Program.
Sure, it’s interesting to finally have more information about the New Republic post-original trilogy but this story seemed insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Basically, Dr Pershing is desperate to continue his cloning experiments but the New Republic has banned cloning altogether. At the instigation of Kane, the duo plot to steal Imperial tech from scrapped Imperial crafts to continue Dr. Pershing’s work. Unfortunately for Dr. Pershing, he has been entrapped by Kane and arrested by New Republic forces.
Dr. Pershing has his mind wiped for his troubles clandestinely by Kane. So who exactly is Kane working for? Gideon? Snoke? Palpatine? Well, hopefully this plot thread is developed further but maybe in a spin-off series because by the time we return to the Mandalorians themselves, there’s not much time left. Din, Grogu and Bo are welcomed into the Watch, and it appears that perhaps Bo is the “convert” mentioned in the title. Let the story of the Mandalorian continue….
