Entitled “Unwashed and Somewhat Slightly Dazed”, The Man Who Fell to Earth Episode 2 continues to introduce the plot elements intended to sustain the story line of the series. The episode begins with Faraday meeting Newton in a dreamlike sequence whereby the latter instructs the former to somehow take over control of a tech company called OriGen in order to save their home planet, Anthea.

That starting point – with no further specific instructions – brings Faraday back to ex-scientist Justin Falls for assistance and once more, Falls’ resistance becomes the centerpiece of the episode’s plot. The only difference now is that Faraday gets to know Falls’ family a little better and vice versa. The issue is still unresolved by the end of the episode but it does appear that Falls will eventually change her mind.
The Man Who Fell to Earth Episode 2 also introduces an antagonist viz. CIA agent Spencer Clay who investigates the tornado that facilitated the Faraday-Newton dream meeting mentioned earlier. This brings Clay to Dr. Gregory Papel, a CIA psychiatrist, who when encountered treats Clay as a hostile and proceeds to capture and torture him. This entire sequence is brutal and it is hinted that Dr. Papel had previously examined Newton – it does not end well. Clearly, Clay and Faraday will ultimately be on a collision course. Good set-ups for the episodes to come!
