Entitled “The Crossing”, The Bad Batch Season 2 Ep 9 unfortunately reverts to the boring standalone type that Season 2 has been plagued with too often. Disappointing especially when chapters 7 & 8 provided significant events in Star Wars lore concerning the clones. So once more, our group of misfit heroes is on a retrieval mission for Cid and things go wrong. Seems like the go-to plot for most of Season 2 so far. Boring.
The Bad Batch Season 2 Ep 9 does try to address the plot development of Echo leaving the group at the end of the previous chapter and its impact on Omega’s state of mind. The young female clone is obviously in a foul mood throughout this episode and gets bonding time with Tek when things inevitably go wrong on their mission. Which is bad enough on its own but the manner in which the group are challenged is another writing problem.
Basically, their ship is stolen from right under their noses leaving them stranded. Isn’t their any security protocol to prevent such an obvious catastrophe? You’d think so and you would be wrong. Hard to believe that something as important as your ship is so easily broken into and flown away. But there you go. Poor writing that completely destroyed any advancement achieved in the last two episodes. How will the writers resolve this, eh? Hmmm.
