Entitled “Pabu”, The Bad Batch Season 2 Ep 13 continues the inconsistent quality evident from episode to episode. After the dark and disturbing tone of the previous chapter, this one is relatively light-hearted though it does seem to be significant in terms of the story arc of this season. Overall, this instalment came across like a classic Star Trek episodes, with its visit to the titular island.
Nothing much happens in The Bad Batch Season 2 Ep 13 as Phee Genoa brings the group to Pabu, a refugee island where Thee keeps all the artefacts she is collecting. Rather than being a mercenary pirate, Phee is revealed to be a philanthropic adventurer in the vein of Indiana Jones, seeking out artefacts of cultural significance stolen during the Clone Wars and Imperial oppression.
After defecting from Cid’s influence, the group are keen on starting anew and Phee suggests that they stay awhile on Pabu, where the idyllic surroundings certainly fit the bill to solve the group’s problems. But of course, everything is too good to be true and a series of quakes trigger a huge tsunami and the group need to dig deep to ensure their own survival and that of their new friends.
Thus, though The Bad Batch Season 2 Ep 13 was generally boring, we look forward to see what role Pabu plays in the remaining episodes.
