Entitled “Retrieval”, The Bad Batch Season 2 Ep 10 is marginally better than the previous episode but overall still a weak one! The chapter completes the plot began in episode 9 with the theft of the Marauder leaving the team stranded. Conveniently, however, Omega manages to track the drone left on the ship and in no time at all, turn up at the mine when it was taken.
We discover that Benni, a young miner, is responsible and the team ‘enlist’ his aid in retrieving their ship. A few problems with this – considering that Benni was the culprit, the team treat him really well and naively trust him throughout! Even when on several occasions he mentions to Omega concerning his ambitions within the mining organisation, headed by crooked leader Mokko. Sure, we realise that the series is mainly targeted at kids but even kids are more savvy than that!
The Bad Batch Season 2 Ep 10 leads on the tried and tested path as Mokko’s deception leads to his overthrow and death (!), and the young miners get to determine their own fate. The episode shoehorns a few choice platitudes about how the team needs to help people who are suffering due to the Empire but why that does not mean joining up with the rebellion is beyond us. Ho hum.
