Earlier this year, electro-soul artist Maricelle released her debut EP – The Pursuit – to a warm reception. Maricelle will showcase the songs on The Pursuit and other tracks at her Launch Party at the Esplanade Annexe Studio on April 20th from 7pm.
Electro-soul-pop has been the popular ‘genre’ in recent times amongst indie-loving youth. Much of this approach is middling fare and somewhat generic but as with any other hip & cool ‘genre’ – the distinctive mark of an artist is the attention to melodic development.
Singer-songwriter Maricelle will be releasing her first EP – Pursuit – on 7th January 2017. As a teaser, the lead single “Lovedrunk” has dropped today (4th November) to coincide with the launch of the EP pre-order at iTunes. A music video will follow on 11th November.
We caught up with Maricelle via email to get the quick lowdown on “Lovedrunk”.
Been overseas since June and missing home, especially with National day and SG51 and the patriotism for Singapore bleeding proudly all over Facebook and instagram, my methods of connecting back to my motherland. Also, all my friends going cray over Pokemon Go, I’m missing out on that. #CHILDHOOD.
Maricelle’s latest instalment comes with the bonus of new music!
I’ve been away for awhile now, time and wifi are scarce on the road. I think I’ve seen a number of lighthouses on this trip, more than I can count, more than I’ve ever seen, and it’s an interesting thought to have seen so many different lighthouses. It seems to remind me that I’m not home anymore, but there’s something guiding me somewhere else, if that makes sense. The journey’s been rough, but good. Like the famous Gaga song, if it ain’t rough it isn’t love.
