Suffice to say, in recent times the best stories have usually been found on TV. Well, technically, cable and online streaming. This year was no different.
2017 was a very eventful year for geek movies in general. Geek franchises like the MCU and Star Wars demonstrated their wide-ranging popularity with the masses whilst (sometimes) dumbing down story content in the process.
2017 was a great year for music and there was enough evidence from old and new artists that Power Pop Rock N Roll is still alive and kicking.
As we had shared with you at the beginning of the year, we have been trying to narrow Power of Pop’s musical focus – coming up with catchphrases like “THE NEW ROCK N ROLL”, “POP POWER!!!” and most recently, “POWER POP ROCK N ROLL” to differentiate the kind of music we are interested to champion from the other kinds of music we quite believe is a complete waste of our (and your) time.
WHERE WE HAVE BEEN IN 2016 AND WHERE WE ARE GOING IN 2017WHERE WE HAVE BEEN IN 2016 AND WHERE WE ARE GOING IN 2017
Around mid-2016, we made a conscious decision to revamp Power of Pop completely. We needed to narrow the site’s focus back on the music that we love i.e. pop-rock. In addition, we resolved to move away from reviews and concentrate on being a tastemaker, with an emphasis on discovery.
Yeah yeah everybody’s got a fuckin’ list of recommended 2017 movies. Here’s ours – in order of anticipation. Nuff said.
