Entitled “America Decides”, Succession Season 4 Ep 8 covers an eventful night as the Roy siblings plot and scheme to further their own personal ambitions within the political machinations of an American Presidential election. For Kendall and Roman, as co-CEOs, the support of Republican candidate Menken brings about the promise of shutting down the acquisition deal with Mattson. For Shiv, her secret deal with Mattson demands support for Democrat candidate Jimenez. While Democracy hangs in the balance – real or imagined – the siblings jostle for dominance in a post-Logan universe.

Succession Season 4 Ep 8 finds Kendall somewhat stuck in the middle, with his own adopted daughter feeling threatened by the “America First” rhetoric of Menken while accepting that Roman’s proposed deal with Menken serves their purposes best. Shiv, on the other hand, attempts to play on Kendall’s doubts in this respect but loses out due to her duplicity being found out in an unceremonial manner. By the end of the episode, Shiv is left desperately needing to outflank her brothers with Mattson and flailing wildly.

A superb episode with twists and turns, deception and lies and characters doing whatever is necessary to secure their own interests – all depicted from the ATN premises. Succession Season 4 Ep 8 is masterful TV!
