STAR TREK: PICARD SEASON 3 EP 6 – FAN-SERVICE WITH EXCELLENT WRITING

Star Trek: Picard Season 3 Ep 6

Star Trek: Picard Season 3 Ep 6 is the sixth chapter of the 3rd season of an American scifi space opera television series created by Akiva Goldsman, Michael Chabon, Kirsten Beyer, and Alex Kurtzman for the streaming service Paramount+. The series is a spin-off of Star Trek: The Next Generation (STTNG) with the titular character Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) as its central focal point.

Entitled “The Bounty”, Star Trek: Picard Season 3 Ep 6 demonstrates to the current wave of nostalgic returning TV series that fan-service can be paired with excellent writing to provide an engaging viewing experience. When it was first announced that season 3 would see the reunion of the entire STTNG crew, we were skeptical about whether this final Picard season could rise above the stereotypical nostalgic fan-service?

Star Trek: Picard Season 3 Ep 6 does all that and more! Flashpoints include a heist at the Daystrom Institute (including a Moriarty cameo), a visit to the Fleet Museum (headed by Jordi La Forge!) and the ultimate reunion – a new version of Data! And the manner in which the writers circumvented the issue of actor Brent Spiner (now 74 years old) playing an ageless android is quite intriguing. With that the gang is almost complete, with the final addition provided with a twist at the very end!

So this is indeed the final voyage of the STTNG crew but not on the Starship Enterprise but on Titan. With the Changelings as the main villains and the human remains of Picard being weaponised somehow (and why are the Changelings trying to get Jack Crusher, eh?), the remaining 4 chapters are brilliantly set up for a rousing conclusion. Hopefully, the series sticks the landing! Recommended!!
