Entitled “Seventeen Seconds”, Star Trek: Picard Season 3 Ep 3 is most probably one of the best episodes of the new Star Trek era. Well, certainly, it comes across as one of the most faithful, in any case. All bets are off after Titan refused Captain Vadic’s demand to surrender Jack Crusher and flew into the nebula in an attempt to escape the vastly superior The Shrike.

Star Trek: Picard Season 3 Ep 3 finally brings Picard and Doctor Crusher to discuss the very existence of Jack. Obviously, Beverly had her reasons though Picard is not convinced by a single one in a tense, emotional exchange. In the meantime, on M’Talas Prime, Raffi and Worf discuss their own situation as it is revealed that the latter is the former’s handler in Starfleet Intelligence!

Riker takes over as the captain of the Titan in the absence of the injured Shaw and there is conflict between Riker and Picard concerning strategy. Meanwhile, Jack discovers the reason why The Shrike is able to detect the Titan in the nebula – there is a saboteur on board, who’s identity ties in with what is going on in M’Talas Prime. Speaking of which, Worf and Raffi capture Titus Rikka and find out that a Dominion faction is behind the terrorist attack on Starfleet Academy and Rikka is a changeling, as is the Titan saboteur!

These intriguing events all lead to an exciting climax at the end of this episode, not to mention a thrilling cliff-hanger to hold onto till episode 4. Highly recommended!
