STAR TREK PICARD S01E01 (REVIEW)

Star Trek Picard S01E01

Review of Star Trek Picard S01E01 the pilot episode of the 1st season of the scifi space opera TV series based on characters from Star Trek : The Next Generation. Chronologically, Star Trek Picard takes place years after the events of Star Trek : Nemesis, the final movie in the Star Trek : The Next Generation film franchise.

If, like me, you enjoyed Star Trek : Discovery, then you will find Star Trek : Picard an absolute joy to behold. If not, then you will probably decry Picard as yet another desecration of Gene Roddenberry’s vision.

Star Trek Picard S01E01

First off, how lovely is it to see Patrick Stewart reprise his most famous role in the twilight of his esteemed career? Certainly, besides the obvious nostalgic factor, Stewart’s acting pedigree elevates the entire premise and it’s impossible not to get drawn into the narrative.

Star Trek Picard S01E01

Star Trek Picard S01E01 involves the legacy of Data, Romulan treachery and the recovery of a Borg cube. In terms of Data’s legacy, this pilot episode introduces Data’s ‘offspring’ and creates an air of mystery and anticipation regarding the Star Trek universe post-Nemesis. In our opinion, Star Trek Picard does an excellent job in reinventing the Star Trek franchise for modern audiences without alienating the diehard fans, which is no mean feat for sure!

Intrigued, yet? I am certainly on board. Engage!
