Special Ops: Lioness Part 8 is the final chapter of an American spy thriller television series created by Taylor Sheridan. The premise is about a female Marine tasked with befriending the daughter of a suspected terrorist who is being surveilled by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). The series stars Zoe Saldaña, Laysla De Oliveira, Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, Nicole Kidman and Morgan Freeman.

Entitled “Gone is the Illusion of Order”, Special Ops: Lioness Part 8 attempts to achieve two objectives. One, to present to us viewers a tense finale and two, to wrap up the series in a satisfactory manner. In respect of the former, the finale was more confusing than tense, as too much uncertainty was present in the critical operation involving Cruz. At the situation room in the White House, State Department was at odds with the CIA over whether the operation should even go ahead! The infighting was unsettling.
As for the latter, Special Ops: Lioness Part 8 failed to adequately resolve the story threads that ran through the series. Even the manner in which Cruz achieved her mission was more accidental and convenient than anything else. The sequence in which Cruz repeatedly assaults Joe, her superior officer, would be enough to have her charged for insubordination so it was a weird conclusion. Obviously, for Joe, the success of her mission brought little joy. There was no resolution whatsoever for Cruz and Aaliyah! Presumably, the series is being set up for a second season, as so many loose plot lines remain hanging in the air.
Special Ops: Lioness had a unique opportunity to update the war against terror that had been previously depicted in Homeland. This opportunity was mainly wasted, due to poor writing and characterisation. Notwithstanding all this, there is potential in the premise and hopefully a second season will develop this further.
