Special Ops: Lioness Part 7

Special Ops: Lioness Part 7 is the seventh chapter of an American spy thriller television series created by Taylor Sheridan. The premise is about a female Marine tasked with befriending the daughter of a suspected terrorist who is being surveilled by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). The series stars Zoe Saldaña, Laysla De Oliveira, Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, Nicole Kidman and Morgan Freeman.

Entitled “Wish the Fight Away”, Special Ops: Lioness Part 7 is the penultimate chapter of this series and thus, finally, it increases the stakes facing all the key characters in the ultimate gambit. In order to remove the terrorist banker (Aaliyah’s father), the CIA operatives have to undertake a possibly illegal operation in Mallorca at Aaliyah’s wedding. This brings tremendous risk to our main protagonists Joe and Cruz, as well as Kaitlyn Meade (their superior) and the tension can finally be felt in this tepid series.

Now, Special Ops: Lioness Part 7 also introduces a love affair between Cruz and Aaliyah into the mix, which is utterly too predictable and boring, but used by the series to introduce additional doubt and conflict for Cruz regarding her mission. Cruz is clearly disturbed by this relationship and its implications on her mission and no doubt may well be a liability for the CIA in the end. One more uncertainty thrown into this mess of a situation.

It’s a pity that it took seven chapters for the story to make any sense but the blame can probably be laid at the writers for failing to create any engagement with the plot, by obscuring the CIA endgame with the Lioness, in the first place.

In the final analysis, it’s almost too late but if nothing else, Special Ops: Lioness Part 7 is an effective enough set-up for the finale coming up.
